READY MADE PRODUCTS
A number of specialist products have been fully developed, field
tested and released for limited production, before immediately
proving so popular that they are now offered as stock items. See
some of them below:
Portable X-ray Machine Stand
This mobile three-wheeled trolley allows veterinarians to X-ray
horse legs at their client's premises without having to hold the
X-ray machine or balance it on a milk crate. The product was
developed after a vet sustained a severe back injury bending over to
lift their machine. Other vets have been known to hold the X-ray
machine between their thighs while taking the radiograph,
which, amongst other things, violates OH&S regulations.
Balancing the machine on a milk crate means that it has to be
constantly lifted on and off, and is not easily adjustable in
height.
This innovative stand allows vertical positioning with no minimum
height step, and also allows the machine to be tilted anywhere from
horizontal to vertical, while being wheeled around to meet the
horse.
There was and still is no competing product on the market, and so
Quick Thinking was asked to custom design and build it.

Hoof X-Ray Box
This is a simple wooden box that is used to hold an X-ray
cassette horizontally, underneath a horse's hoof, in order to take a
radiograph through it. It allows the cassette to be inserted and
removed while the horse is standing on the box, avoiding the
need to continually disturb and reposition the horse to take a set
of shots. This speeds up the process while still protecting the
X-ray cassette.
Self Levelling Platform
Some machines such as scanners and copiers do not function well
if not on a level bench. This platform was designed to allow the use
of office or laboratory equipment in the back of mobile vans without
the need to continually ensure that the machine is level when parked
on a sloping driveway.
The platform uses two electrical actuators to level the table on
which the equipment sits. The impressive accuracy of better than
0.05 degrees is achieved by the use of specially designed purpose
built electronic inclinometers, which also keep the cost of the
installation down. The machine self levels without operator
intervention within a few seconds.
Anti-Shock and Vibration Mounting
The use of office or laboratory equipment in mobile applications
can only be done with the use of anti-shock and vibration mounts.
Although anti-vibration mounting rubbers are available for the feet
of rotating machinery, such as motors, these are not suitable in
this application as they pass excessive low frequency shock through
to the equipment being protected, and suffer, as most mountings do,
from resonance at particular frequencies.
In order to preserve the warranty and minimise the cost of
maintenance on a client's expensive machine, Quick Thinking
developed a custom made anti-shock mounting. The mounting is fitted
to the Quick Thinking self levelling platform, to provide a
total solution for the use of laboratory equipment in a mobile
application.
